Green E-Board™ can be easily installed as a finished wall panel by using the smooth side as a finished wall.
We recommend that you use a good primer as a base coat since it is has an alkaline base and may react to some specialized paints.
MATERIALS NEEDED
- Nails: Use appropriate length galvanized nails for the
thickness of the Green E-Board™ and the application
- Screws: Corrosion-resistant bugle head drywall screws
or backerboard screws appropriate for the application
- Vapor Barrier when using Green E-Board™ in a wet location
- 2” glass fiber mesh tape for seams
- Standard or Latex Modified Thinset
- If applying Green E-Board™ as the finished wall surface, standard
or ecologically friendly drywall finishing materials may be used on the
joints
TOOLS
- Tungstine carbide tipped backer board knife or standard utility knife
- Aluminum straight edge or T-ruler
- Commercial grade electric screw-gun with variable clutch and adjustable
depth guide
EASY TO CUT
- Place the straightedge on the board and score once using the backer
board knife
- Hold the larger piece firmly and put light pressure on the smaller piece
until it breaks
- For best results, score the back side before snapping the two pieces apart
INSTALL
- Steel or wood framing should be spaced no greater than 16” o.c. without
blocking, 24” o.c. with blocking when using ½” Green
E-Board™. Always follow local building codes
- Use a vapor barrier for wet applications
- When using Green E-Board™ as an
underlayment use a dry-set or latex-cement mortar to bond Green
E-Board™ to sub floor.
- Fasteners should be spaced 6” o.c. for walls and ceilings for both wood
and metal framing. Drive fasteners flush with surface.
- Under tile and stone use a 2” 10x10 glass fiber mesh tape embedded
in a skim coat of a polymer modified thinset. Caulk or seal joints.
